"Wiki" is the word for "fast" in Hawaiian. A wiki is a page or collection of Web pages designed to enable anyone who accesses them to contribute or modify the content easily. Wikis are often used to create collaborative sites and to power online communities. Wikis are used in education to allow students to co-create documents and research topics collaboratively. Watch the video on wikis (4 min.)
The collaborative encyclopedia Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page is the most popular example of a wiki today. Wikis have several key characteristics, which include:
• May invites all users to edit any page or to create new pages within the wiki Website, using only a simple Web browser.
• Promotes meaningful topic associations between different pages by making page link creation intuitively easy and showing whether an intended target page exists or not.
• Seeks to involve the visitor in an ongoing process of creation and collaboration that constantly changes the Website landscape. A wiki enables documents to be written collaboratively, iteratively, in a simple markup language using a Web browser. A single page in a wiki Website is referred to as a “wiki page”. The entire collection of pages, which are usually well interconnected by hyperlinks, is "the wiki". A defining characteristic of wiki technology is the ease with which pages can be created and updated. Many wikis are open to alteration by the general public. Many edits can be made in real-time and appear almost instantly online.

ReplyDeleteBlogs are the sites where you can write about your feelings, problems, interests and friends, about your own life. Your massages can read only your friends and they cannot corect it but they can comment your massages.
ReplyDeleteWikis are the sites where we can write about some usefull things, some articles for other people. All users can read wikis and corect articles.
Wikis and blogs are different sites.
ReplyDeleteBlogs are oppotunity for expressing our own thoughts, fellings. Also we can add our own opinion about this massage.
Wikis are the sites where we can create pages with some important information for other users.
Wikis are different from blogs. In wikis we can create information on pages,in blogs we саn share different information with friends, for example.
ReplyDeletehttp://philology2010.pbworks.com/w/page/32864906/Jansen-Eckles#
ReplyDeletefor example in blogs we can communicate with each other, watch news etc. and in Wikis we can widespread our luggage of knowledges in a way of reading new information in Wikis
Wikis is very usefull for working in groups. There we can exchange our knowledges, correct each other's mistkes and simply add interesting and unknowing information. Also it's easy to make plans for meetings or anything else even when people are far from us. So for me it's interesting and exciting type of work.
ReplyDeleteWikis are really different from blogs and as for me it is more intresting. In wikis we can create information on pages and it makes working in group easier. And I think that blogs is site where you can communicate with people send massages, write about your thoughts or feelings and wiki is more usefull for work.
ReplyDeleteI think Wiki is very interesting for students. We can make plans in group or make projects, add something and see what other people add. It's very useful and easier to work in such way.
ReplyDeleteWikis are something new for me. But I like it. It is very interesting and useful job for us - students! It helps us to develope our skills, to more learn something connected with our future profession. Also we can communicate with different interesting people around the world. It's so great!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for it!=)
In my opinion blogs are used to show all and everyone what type of person you are...in blog we can write everything:we can express our feeling...we can tell about ourselves...we can disscuss topics with our friends and simply interesting people...
ReplyDeletewikies are used to leave your comment and to express your opinion about video or other object and to share with it with others,i mean with help of wikkies we disscus some topic...
i really like both kinds of activities and think that they'll help us to improve our Enlish and to find new friends))
As my opinion is concerned, I think wikis and blogs are very different. A blog is your own project, which can be edited only by you, while other people can comment on your posts. On the contrary, wikis can be edited by anyone who has the acces to it. It's very convenient to use wikis when you work in group and you don't have an opportunity to meet with your partners personally. So blog is used for your personal purposes, and wikis are used for group projects.
ReplyDeletewiki, World Wide Web (WWW) site that can be modified or contributed to by users. And blogs (a blend of the term web log)is a type of website or part of a website. Blogs are usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video.
ReplyDeleteWikis and blogs are very useful things. But they are different in a way from each other. As I understood, wikis are created for group works. And blogs are coined for personal usage. This is the basical difference.
ReplyDeleteWatch this video I realized that the wiki and blog are very different.
ReplyDeleteWiki can be corrected, but on the blog is only comments. I am personally like a wiki, because I can do some work with my friends who live in another city!
I think that wikis and blogs are very different sites.
ReplyDeleteIn the wiki we can create group projects on different themes, and in the blog we write about yourself, leave comments on someone's notes.
But the wiki and blog is very interesting, because they involve different ways of working, different ways of learning English.
Now i know that wikis and blogs are very different. In a blog you can only comment people's works but in wiki you can do some work together with your friends.
ReplyDeleteI think as a blog and Wiki are equally useful. And the only thing than they differ this social value: blogs have personal value, Wiki are used by a society. Therefore I can't oppose a blog and Wiki.
ReplyDeleteI didn't think, that the diference between blogs and wikis is so big. I mean, blogs are good things for intercourse with friends, and wikis can help to unite us with our friends, because general work, as we know, units=)

ReplyDeleteAnd now i want to speak with you about wiki.
I think, this thing is very useful for students and i'm interested in wiki. We can make differents tasks and solve different problems with our friends on-line. I like wiki!!!=)
Wiki and Blogs are enable communication between groups of people. Just Blogs do it in a form of comments and Wiki do it by letter.
ReplyDeleteBoth of them make our life easier!
wikis and blogs are very different sites.Wikis are the sites where we can create pages with some important information for other users.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure that we can use both Wikis and Blogs to share our tastes and interests ,but the main difference is that Wiki is more informative and cognitive. Blogs instead of Wikis display our personal opinions and maybe feelings.
ReplyDeleteActually i'm interested in using Blogs and Wikis as well ))))
Wiki really helps the students. Students can not only communicate for the sake of something personal but for the sake of studing, they can spread their work and evaluate other people's works by comments, which helps them for the overall development.
ReplyDeleteI think, that we must use Wiki and Blogs equally. These resources are very useful for us.As for me, I use Blogs to communicate with my friends and Wiki for group work.
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm glad to learn these resources.=)

ReplyDeleteI think that wikis and blogs are created equal and we should use both of these. But wikis are best suited for collective work of students and the blog for communicating with your friends.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion Wiki and Blogs are equally useful for us. Wiki helps us to study and to share new information with groupmates. The main difference of Wiki is opportunity to share information with people irrespective of availability a person in your friendlist.
ReplyDeleteI think that the blog is much better because it's personal, and that's what you want to tell people.
ReplyDeleteOn Wikki you can put the information that people can add or edit. I like the blog, because there I can tell you about myself and people can learn more about me.
Blogs and wikis are such resources that are both useful but as for me it is better to use blogs.First of all it is your own and you can tell about yourself.Such resources are a bit alike but anyway using wikis the other user may add something and using blogs user may read and comment your works.
ReplyDeleteTo my mind useing Wiki and Blogs is equally helpful. These sites helps us to share our mind with other people. But difference of Wiki is possibility for everybody to read and edit your article as opposed to Blogs.
ReplyDeleteI think that and Wiki and Blogs are important anduseful for us.As for me better is blogs because there we can write our thoughts and information what we want. But Wiki is useful too!
ReplyDeleteWiki helps us to study and to share new information with groupmates.Blogs are usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video.

both are useful but some people feel more comfortable in wikis and some in blogs. we couldn't delete on or enother from the web they are both useful for us!
ReplyDeleteI think wiki is more useful than a blogs. But i think we need to make it more comfortable for using by all the people! I think that wiki will win in any time it's more useful for us and more productivity.
ReplyDeleteWiki really helps the students.First of all it is your own and you can tell about yourself.I use Blogs to communicate with my friends and Wiki for group work.

To understand the difference between this two sites we shoud understand the main aim of our using the site. To my mind, Wiki is more suitable for corporative work ( group of friends or groupmates): here we can share different information with each other or just make smth like a collective work. If we speak about Blogs, here you can post your personal information: you may tell about your hobby, interests, fellings an so on. So, everything depends on weather you need to do. Though,I might say that both sites are really usefull for study as well as for our personal life!
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion both:Wiki and Blogs are important and useful for us. Sites for sharing opinions and information.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure that we can use both Wikis and Blogs to share our tastes and interests ,but the main difference is that Wiki is more informative and cognitive. Blogs instead of Wikis display our personal opinions and maybe feelings.
